The Qaddumi Foundation is getting ready to launch Acting As An Innovator (AAAI) Program Round II with 20 mentors and 8 trainers from the Qaddumi community, 7 of whom were mentors in the AAAI Round I in 2022.

Round II mentors were trained in 2023 to guide, support, and inspire AAAI participants by exchanging ideas, sharing experiences, and monitoring the implementation of their projects.  Mentors will also take part in assessing participants at the end of the program. With the help of Omnia Education Partnerships (OEP) facilitators, trainers were trained on how to use the Trainer’s Manual, the detailed training plans, and the virtual AAAI Platform for conducting workshops, collecting homework assignments, and providing feedback to the teachers.

The AAAI Round I was launched in 2022, bringing together 24 teachers from different schools in the West Bank and Gaza, supported by 8 mentors from the Qaddumi community of teachers. Throughout their journey towards innovation, the teachers benefited from the various stages of the program, including learning, applying, developing, and reflecting. Working in groups, teachers developed 12 creative projects from an initial idea to the final implementation. They identified the key elements for any innovative project: collaboration, benchmarking, frugal innovation, funding, mobilizing the local community, and designing and scaling up projects with the help of students, who were the cornerstones for each project.

“Teachers in Palestine work in a variety of environments and circumstances with varying levels of access to resources and support. Hence, it has become imperative for educators to embrace innovative approaches and think outside the box to tackle educational obstacles. We believe that empowering a single teacher empowers every student they teach, creating a powerful ripple effect of change that will be felt in generations to come,” said Rana Diab, Executive Director of Qaddumi Foundation, commenting on the launch of AAAI Round II.

Inspired by the Finnish model, one of the most successful education models in the world today, the program focuses on enhancing teachers’ capabilities, increasing students’ love for learning, and engaging them in the educational process. The Finnish experience has proven that a successful education system must rely on grassroots programs and projects initiated at the level of the educators on the front lines.

In 2021, Qaddumi Foundation partnered with OEP to implement AAAI in Palestine. The program’s goal is to support Palestinian teachers and encourage them to adopt a positive development mindset that sees the lack of resources as an opportunity, rather than an obstacle, in the educational process.

AAAI Round I participants succeeded in developing 12 innovative projects with a digital dimension. Not only did these projects accomplish the program objectives, but they also had a profound effect on the students and their educational environment.
